  1. That would be Voodoo not Reiki!

  2. No it cannot. I've worked with alot of different types of energy and Reiki is the most inclusive and undiluted form of energy with one of the higest vibrations I've felt. It really is Pure White Light - it's the universal life force energy. Energy vibrating at that level cannot cause harm.  Practitoners extra amounts of that energy through them into a recipient for the highest good/healing.

Now certainly energy can be used to harm, but it takes the more cthonic, denser forms of energy that are produced directly from the practitioner's self, or from other sources very close to physical vibration.

Reiki could not be used for those purposes.

  3. Reiki is a wonderful tool for relaxation, stress reduction and it does help promote healing.

What I have found out in the 15+ years that I have been teaching, is that reiki does no harm. In fact if you have a headache and work on a client, both of you get better.  Because the strong positive energy is flowing through you from the universe,  you get better as well.

I live in a state where there is much concern and understanding about negative and evil eye energy "Mal de Ojos", so we lhave been teach clearing and cleansing along with our Reiki Healing. AND amazingly enough as the newest information comes out of Japan, we find they also have a cleansing technique to clear out any energy that is not positive.

My newest student is from Japan and is integrating her Japanese understanding and reiki with the Western Reiki. She is teaching us more of the Japanese concept that she learned.  Domo Arigato Gozaimasta

  4. no, reiki cannot be used for harm. reiki is about using with intent for the greater good,if your ego or plans are not for the greater good, then it is not effective. the power it comes from is the great divine,God, higher universe,ect... and it is he/she that does the healing. we are just a conduit to channel the energy.

  5. I have been a recipient of Reiki for more than 20 years and an Master teacher of Reiki for eight years. All of my experiences with Reiki and everything that I have read and been taught says that Reiki can not do harm.

I do believe this to be true. I also believe that the intention of the healer can either help or hinder the healing interaction so while Reiki can not do harm, it is still critical that the practitioner have clear and pure intention and that they are a clean vessel.

In the case of a severe illness Reiki can be used to compliment medical care. If the patient wants to try Reiki instead of other medical care in the case of a severe illness, they should do this under the close supervision of their doctor who can monitor progress.

I believe that medicine and wholistic care both have their place.

Do not believe what the skep doc says. He says the same things over and over and he does not bother to read the available research.

I have included a few links to some articles about studies that have been done, if you care to read them.

  6. Considering "Reiki" translates to "Universal Life" and "Energy", the only way it would be used to cause harm would be if the universe were "pissed" at the recipient.

This may seem a little naive, but the point of Reiki is passing the energy that flows around and through us, as opposed to gathering negative or positive energy and sending it where we feel it belongs. The energy has a knowledge of its' own, thereby going where it's needed.

  7. Reiki is fake.

    Heal: placebo effect

Harm: fools people with real conditions to not get read help and die maybe?

  8. Reiki.  It's Reiki with a capital R.  And no it cannot be used to cause harm.

  9. Reiki has no healing properties, neither can it be used to harm as it is essentially a baseless healing philosophy

There is not a shred of evidence that the energy force ("ki") exists, and nobody has been  able to detect it except Reiki masters.  Even they are not able to "detect" it with any more success than random guessing would predict when their powers are subject to proper controls.  (Ya, I know..., they wore the wrong underwear, the planets weren't aligned, skeptics give off negative energy that interferes with the magic.   yada yada...right)

However, you may be harmed if you use Reiki in place of conventional evidence based treatments if you are unfortunate enough to actually have a serious illness.

Reiki, like most AltMed thrives in the area of ill defined vague symptoms of the worried well.  Placebos are very effective when there is nothing wrong with you in the first place.

EDIT:  Michelle, the only reason I appear to say "the same things over and over" is because there is nothing to add. REIKI IS COMPLETE BULLSHIT !!

There is no recent quality research that shows Reiki has any healing properties. There is no valid research that shows reiki does anything at all.  I am very familiar with the studies on it, the only ones that have shown positive effects are very small, poorly controlled studies which have been published in non peer reviewed altie journals.
