If the horse was ever at a pari-mutual track, he should have a tattoo on his upper lip. Contact AQHA with the tattoo number and/or his registered name and they can provide you with more info.

Just an idea-- you might also post this in the Horse (Pets) category, because the majority of the horse people are in that forum and someone might have the information you're seeking.  I just happened to see your question as I was logging in, because it was on the "recent questions" page.  I would never have seen it in the "Horse Racing" category.

Have you tried a google search for the horse's name?  Or searching on http://www.allbreedpedigree.com ?  Hopefully you can find what you want.  Good luck.
