  1. Have you checked that you've removed all the little bits of plastic that the manufacturers like to stick down all the moving parts of printers? Also, are the ink cartridges fixed properly (and have any wrappers removed)? Also download the latest version of the software drivers from the Epson web site rather than using the one on the CD which may be out of date. Failing that, the printer may be faulty.

It must be something to do with either the printer or what you're doing, as that printer is fully compatible with OS X

  2. Open the file your trying to print

    turn on the printer

    press ctrl+P

    preferences

    maintenance

    check them all

  3. Does it feed the paper straight through, or does it make sounds and actions like it is trying to print?

Does it feed through just one page, or the right number for your print job?

Is the printer new?  You mention checking the ink levels, which makes me suspect it is used.  If used, did you see it printing before you bought it?   If the ink cartridge(s) is / are old, they can dry up and not work at all.

    [edit]

Maybe we should go back to basics first.

is the printer plugged into the Mac with a USB cable?  Important.

Is the printer correctly shown when you open the Printer list from 'Print and Fax' under 'System Preferences' ?  Important.

What application are you using to test the printer?  If you open TextEdit, type 'hello' and then press command-P, it should try to print the page.  What happens?

  4. Did you install off of the CD or the internet? If you downloaded it from the internet, then it may be that you got the wrong printer!! Un-install it and re-install it from the CD.

If you did install it from the CD, did you put in the Windows or Mac disc? If you used Windows, un-install it and install the Mac version!

Hopefully, by un-installing and re-installing the software (With the correct version if you accidentally installed the incorrect one) it should work!!

    Good luck!
