French wines tend to be pricey. Especially dessert wines.

No it isn't. People pay a LOT of money for wine in Europe, when it is a good year and from a good area etc. You can expect to spend a lot more than that for  a really good bottle. My fathers wine collection is insured! Hope you know what you have though, I probably wouldn't have bought a bottle of wine costing around £70 without knowing it was worth it. Next time check on here before you buy :)
