Just bought a 2000 Rover 25. Can I put in a CD player that will work with steering controls?

It only has a factory fitted cassette player and it's driving me nuts not having a cd player. Is it possible to put in a CD player that the steering controls will work with?? Do I need a specific brand? Also will I require any adaptors? And is it easy to do? Sorry for all the questions, thanks in advance. x x

  1. The answer suggesting you spend £400 is absolutely ridiculous.

    I'd spend about £25 & pick up a used Rover CD unit that'll plug straight in & let you use the steering wheel controls too;

    Alternatively, buy a branded CD player & fit an adapter like this;

    for just £30 (NOT £200!!) to allow you to use the steering wheel controls.

  2. yes you can and dont go spending silly money look on ebay then go to a car audio center you should get fixed up for about 60 to 100 pound max

  3. Yes you can...... the possibilities are endless when it comes to this. A good cd player should run you about 200.00,then you have installation and parts on top of that. The steering controls are easily retained with the use of an adapter, they are usually around 200.00 you can find some cheaper, but one that is going to last will cost you about this much. I work at a car audio store. Check out our website and give us a shout.....my name is Josh
