I just bought my new laptop today, i've been using it for about 3 hours now... i put the adapter in the laptop so its been charging ever since...

Should i take out the adapter/charger cable every time my laptop is fully charged???? and should i start to recharge my laptop when my battery hits around 5%??

WOuld it be alright if i always have my adapter/charger cable connected to my laptop??

  1. I just got my new HP also.

I keep my laptop plugged in almost all the time.

But my fiance has told me that I need to unplug it when it is done charging and wait till it is dying to plug it back up.

I would unplug it when it is fully charger.

  2. Charging and discharging the laptop is very crucial to the Longevity of the battery.  If you plan to run it plugged in all the time...my suggestion is to charge battery to full...and then remove the battery...leave it plugged in is fine.  Keep the battery stored in a cool dry place...do not stick it in the refrigerator....that's MOIST/WET etc.

  3. my charger is always connected to my laptop. it doesnt hurt it at all.

  4. I hear that if you run it out of juice all the way to 0 the first time its better for the laptop and stays on longer.

  5. Hi K

It's alright if you always keep the adapter/charger cable connected to the laptop. Since most people buy laptops so that they can work on the go, so occasionally you'll need to take the laptop along with you, and run it on batteries. In such cases, it's advisable that you start recharging it after the battery has almost fully drained (this enhances battery life). However, should you need to charge it just when it's (say) 50%, feel free to do that.

Since this's a brand new laptop, so your concern is quite u'standable. Don't worry much about it, it's not a big deal, as you'll feel after some days :-)

  6. Yeah its fine if its always in the charger. Let your laptop die (or use up all its battery) from time to time though. My dad tells me to do this and computers are his living. I don't know why your supposed to do that but you should. I leave mine charged all the time. If its off and fully charged I would unplug it. Waste of electricity especially if your not using it for a while.

    Hope this helps

  7. no u dont have to keep it plugged in it doesnt matter i have a laptop 2 and it willl remind u to charge it whenits losinf battery but if it loses batrry it will shut down so be sure to pug it in at like 20%

  8. Most new laptop batteries do not require you to deplete then fully prior to recharging, so you should be OK plugging it in at any time during the drain cycle. I leave my laptop plugged in when I am at home or near a power source. When I'm not it holds a charge for 2~3 hours (unless I'm playing a DVD/CD.

  9. I think you should unplug it and let it drain all the way down, until it shuts off, then recharge it right away. Do this four or five times, so it "knows" what its whole battery life should be like. Some call this its "memory" After that, you can just leave it plugged in, until you use it on the battery. Each time you use it without the charger, you should let it drain all the way down, before plugging it in right away and fully recharging it. This is how I use mine. When I have it at home, I always just leave the charger plugged in, tho. This is how my instuctions told me to use it. It seems to work ok that way, I get about 2 and a half hours out of it on the battery at reduced monitor brightness. (about 75% bright, or a little less)

  10. I would drain the battery out completely about 4-5 times. charge 100%, drain till about 2-3%..repeat...your battery performance will be optimum.

  11. yes its no problem to have thje adapter connected to the laptop....

but its better practice to get the battery fully charged and then fully dischaged means till 15% , it ensures long life of ur battery... :-)

  12. honestly i would not leave it on the charger all the time.  only charge it when it needs charging.  Those batteries are not made to be on the charger all the time.  hope this helps..

  13. just let it finish charging before using it

yes you can charge it when it hits the 5%

I advice that you remove yoour charger when using it
