I read up on it, it mentions to get a downloadable boot disk from the internet, but is it really necessary? I'm not understanding exactly why I need it..

  1. well ; Good luck trying to do that.!

  2. Well, you really need a bootable windows xp so that you can reformat it and install again with windows xp. it is very necessary and you can't install XP unless you have it.

  3. Ok the guy on top of me is partially right. When it says the boot thing its downloading the files. I don't think you could uninstall vista and put Xp on it because Vista came with the computer so you cant remove that software and install XP. What I would do is take it back to the store and ask assistant's to help you with your problem because I think the Vista they put on the computer is permenatly installed.

  4. the reason you need the boot disk is for when you start your computer the disk will activate and start downloading the new files. so insert the disk then turn your computer off then back on. the disk will start up. its really simple just follow the directions. i hope this helped
