Just bought a new telly and a hdd dvd recorder. i have followed the installation instructions?

i have the 2 attached by hdmi leads and they are fine. the problem is, how do i get sky through the recorder? i have tried with a scart lead but it doesnt show up. i can watch sky on telly but it wont show up on the channels on the hdd dvd recorder

Sky should be directly fed into recorder,then into television from recorder.
