I just went out and bought one of the big drivers that are popular now days. before this i had used a older smaller driver and i kept having problems with my hits. so my coach suggested that i get a oversided driver, so i did obviously. But i went out and played yesterday, not that i was expecting to do great with it, but my hits were horrible. they were low, and short, very short. Also it felt like when i hit the club would just die or something. i dont know if any of you have any good tips for beginners with those big drivers they would be apperciated!

  1. Everyone's right, tee it higher. Play the ball just off the inside of your left foot if you're right handed.

The driver's the only club that hits the ball on the upswing. Think SWEEP, not hit. the forward ball position will make sure the club's just starting to move upwards when you make contact. The "sweet spot" on most 450cc drivers is 1/2 to 3/4 of the way UP the club face.

  2. us 2 3/4 tees. and tee the ball farward in your stance. ex if you right handed put the ball more twards you left foot. after all im 13 thats what i do and i can hit about 230-250 yds maybe 260 on a good day.

  3. Think about changing coaches.  Any teacher who recommends that equipment will help your game instead of teaching you how to hit the ball properly is not worth paying.

  4. Tee the ball up higher (using the 2 3/4 tees) and play the ball further up in your stance than before.

  5. you might be catching the ball on the downswing so make sure it is just inside your front foot.

  6. With an oversized driver, you should be teeing the ball up higher. Generally, you want 3/4 of the ball or so to be above the driver when it is on the ground. I would imagine it is too low if your drives are low.

  7. tee it up high play it  on your frony foot wider stance
