Question:

Just bought a pool table. Should I be able to see the staples used to secure the felt around all the pockets?

On some of the pockets the felt doesn't quite cover all the wood and the staples are very visible. It looks shoddy to me, but don't exactly recall what they looked like in the store.

  1. Could be poor installation or a poor table, depending on the brand. If it's a name brand table like Olhausen, Brunswick, or Connelley, I'd call the place you bought it and complain. If it's a cheapo table you bought at Sears or on ebay or something, you get what you pay for.

Just giving Rene the benefit of the doubt Johnny, she might think what's she seeing is wood and it's not, or she could be talking about the inside of the pocket rather than the cushion or would-be slate.

  2. This has to do with the installer who did your table, a staple or two is needed to hold the felt on the rail of your table by the pockets, this is usually covered by the pocket , but if the pocket was trimmed too short or the felt was trimmed too short this could cause the wood to show. It is a installation problem.

  3. Whenever I play pool, I have never noticed staples in the felt. I would bring that up to your merchant.

  4. if the staples near the pockets affect the pocket speed (like how the ball gets in the pocket), then no, they shouldn't be there.

besides, it really shouldn't matter if they are or aren't supposed to be visible, if you don't feel comfortable seeing them there then have the store fix the d**n thing. comfort affects your game big time!

and you're not really supposed to see any wood there cuz it should be slate underneath the felt!

  5. WOOD ?? Take that POS back where you bought it or tell them to come and get it if you paid more than$20 for it But no even An EL Chepo Delux you dont see staples

That cheap it just might have felt Go guys I aint beliving this

Wood on those tables ? Come on Matt

    OK could be I guess

  6. sound lie you need to be talking with the seller think you got took

  7. I hope you did not pay much for this table.  I used to be a billiards champ in Nevada many moons ago.  There should not be WOOD!  There should be SLATE!  I am sorry to tell you that!  Vicki
