Question:

Just bought a "Havahart 1045" trap to try and get a goundhog. Advice?

They said release him in a wildlife refuge!

  1. i've actually had trouble with those traps. maybe the animals in my area are smarter or something but they don't trust it.  the only way i have ever trapped something i had completly cover  the cage with branches and stuff to make it look 100% natural.


  2. ya, please don't release him near my place, I have enough of my own...lol. I have quite a few cats on our farm and a few have tangled with groundhogs near the barn where I feed them (cats). I'm assuming the groundhogs might be going after the cat food...but I'm never close enough to see what he's up to when I hear them fighting. I know cat food works for racoons and possums, we've trapped them on top of our round hay bails before, and actually we've gotten a groundhog up there this year too, but it was in a trap without any bait.
