  1. If its a 250 two stroke, make sure you mix the gas right. And if you ride a lot you will need to rebuild the top end during the winter. Other than that, just make sure you have plenty of antifrezze, and brake fluid and check your brake pads. Also check your chain. You should be able to fit two fingers in between the chain and the chain guide. Any more than that and you need to tighten it. If its a 250f, all you need to do is check the oil. That is the biggest thing on a four stroke. So just do regular maintenance like air filters and spark plug and stuff like that and you will be good.

  2. I have a friend who has just came into the hobby.

I would love to find a training group for maintenance to brush up my memory and teach my mate how to look after his bike the right way.

With the rapid increase in fuel cost the sale of bike has gone up.  I cant help but feel that soon,  hands on workshop training will be seen in major cities.

  3. Nate seems to have the basics. You gotta look out for Kangaroos and the Dropbears are active through winter, you don't want to hit one of those on a blind mountain bend!

  4. run your fuel 30:1 to 40:1 with a good synthetic oil, change the gearbox oil approx every 3 rides, rebuild it every couple of months and keep up a regular service schedule
