Just broke new phone. Insurance?

I broke my phone the day after I got it and didn't get insurance.

The phone was dropped and was ran over by a car. My friend gave me the idea to get insurance (since the 14 days isn't over yet) and wait a week or two and claim it? Would it work?

Defrauding an insurance company is a felony.

I'm glad you and your friend are thinking. As you get a little older and not get caught you can start embezzling money where you work.

There are a few things that have to be addressed here.  

First, you made a decision to not purchase the insurance.  You must learn to live with your decisions, not try to place the consequences onto someone else.

Second, insurance is not, nor was it ever intended to cover incidents AFTER they occur.  That would be stupid.

Third, if you chose to do what your friend suggested, you are committing INSURANCE FRAUD.  It is a felony in most states.  You would be defrauding the insurance company.

Fourth, insurance companies are owned by people.  They aren't simply some big corporation.  Anything that defrauds the company, defrauds people.  How would you feel if someone stole from you.  And,

Last, WHAT KIND OF FRIEND WOULD ADVISE YOU TO COMMIT A FELONY?
