i've heard of doctors wanting to induce you because they will be out of town around your due date, if you go to a ob's office that has more than 1 doctor and they require you to see all of them that way you know them all the day you go in for delivery so you're not surprised by who it is that is on call that day. will they still induce you based on their convience even tho there are more doctors there that could deliver your baby, i'm just curious as to what happens if there is more than one doctor, i'm being induced or anything i was just curious if they do the same thing as an office with one doctor will do.

  1. My friend's doctor told her he was going away on vacation and offered to induce her.

    She said no.

I would never do that, ever.

That's why I go to a practice of 3 doctors, so no matter who's on vacation, there will always be a familiar face available.

  2. no they wont, your doctors office is very smart in having you meet each doctor, that way if something does come up with your normal doc you will feel comfortable,  a good doc will not want to induce you unless medically needed, even though twards the end you will be begging them to. the baby needes to grow as long as possible i cant imagine a doc inducing you for thier ownpersonal benifit

  3. Every doctor's office is going to have their own policy. Better to call and ask them. It's a little sad for me to hear that doctors do this for their own convenience. But a lot of things about childbirth are for the doctors' convenience, like the laying on your back to push out the baby instead of letting gravity assist you. That's just one example. My own doctors office is actually the hospital's maternal-fetal medicine department because I have a high risk pregnancy. I don't have one doctor that sees me all the time. I also have to have a planned c-section so that's a little easier to predict. But really, calling the office and asking is the only way you're really going to find out. Good luck.

  4. my obgyn office has like 12 doctors.  they are all great (i got lucky).  i haven't even seen all of them and this is my second pregnancy.  an office with more then one doc will not induce unless they see fit for you and your baby.  there is always someone there if someone else is out of town.  hope everything goes great! good luck.

  5. my drs office has like 3 other ob's but i only see him... i think it would be a good idea to see the other drs just in case, like you said, you end up with one of the others during your labor.

i only saw my dr my whole pregnancy and ended up going into labor 2 weeks early and got a totally different dr. i knew i was in good hands, but it was still a lil odd!

just tell your dr that you would really like him/her and would like for them to help deliver you.

  6. I haven't heard of that but most Doc don't WANT to have to induce labor...since it is more complected than letting things happen for themselves. I would think that in a one Doc. Practice he/she would give a heads up as to who else would do the delivery, if they weren't able to take care of it for their own patient.
