  1. Here is what u do.

Blot with a white paper towel to remove as much of the stain as possible then neutralize with the white vinegar solution (1/3 cup WHITE vinegar to 2/3 cup of water). Saturate spot with white vinegar solution, using a spray bottle and blot to remove excess moisture.

Apply a small quantity of detergent solution to the spot. (To make the detergent solution mix 1/4 teaspoon of a hand dish washing detergent which does not contain lanolin or bleach with 1 quart of water; examples of safe detergents are Dawn® and Joy®.) Use a blotting motion to work the detergent into the affected area. If spot is being removed continue applying detergent and blotting with a white paper towel until spot is removed.

Rinse with tap water using a spray bottle, blot to remove excess moisture.

Spray lightly with water, do not blot this time; apply pad of paper towels and brick and allow to dry.

If there is still some stain on the carpet and blotting is not removing it, then moisten the tufts in the stained area with 3% hydrogen peroxide. Let stand for on (1) hour. Blot and repeat until carpet is stain free. Light will cause peroxide to change back to water so no rinsing is necessary. Apply pad of paper towels and weight down with brick.

  2. First off, you must ensure that you mop up any coffee that has been spilt, either using a soft cloth or some paper towels. This is to save you extra hard work in the long run, to prevent the coffee from saturating the fabric all the way through. Once you have mopped up the worst of the coffee mix up a batch of ½ cup of water and ½ cup of white vinegar and soak a clean cloth in the solution. Place the cloth on top of the coffee stain and gently massage it with a spoon so as to apply some gentle pressure onto the stain, then remove the cloth from the carpet and apply some warm water directly to the stain.

The last step to follow when removing coffee stains from carpet is to allow the carpet to dry, using another clean white cloth or paper towel, you will cover the entire area that is wet.

As a general rule not only for coffee stains but carpet stains in general, as soon as they appear deal with them straight away. If you delay in properly dealing with a stain, the stain will entrench itself even further into the fabric making such simple remedies all but ineffective and thus you may have to pay for the services of a professional carpet cleaner. Not only is very costly, but totally unnecessary as well, having to employ a professional cleaner just to clean up one small stain in your carpet.

  3. You are lucky that the coffee was cold, since the hot coffee causes the carpet fibers to open up and absorb more coffee leaving permanent stains...Blot up what you can with a white rag, dont rub.  Use plain cool water first to remove as much as you can...Vinegar with water or even dishwashing liguid and water are both good for removing coffee stains...Can also sprinkle baking soda on the spot, let set for at least half an hour before vacuuming up...If nothing works, then go to a hardware or discount store and purchase some tannin spot remover.  Since tannin is what causes the coffee to stain.

  4. Short of buying commercial carpet cleaner, try using club soda directly on the spot.

Google "spot removal" for further idees.

  5. ziggy is correct, soda water.  I would soak up as much as possible of the spill, then use the soda water. small amount just on the spot.  blotting every time.  try not to use any detergents at all beause it will leave a sticky residue that you can't see, but a week later the spot will look worse than a coffee stain.  hope this helps
