Just finished watching the day after tomorrow?

i just finished watching the day after tomorrow and had this crazy idea. What if there was civilization before this one what if this civilization was just like this one industrialized. The co2 built up and a huge storm changed earth the southern hemisphere was the developed part of the world now its the developing as most of the people died and the northern hemisphere survived because there was less co2 in their atmosphere

You should stop using Hollywood as a source for scientific information.  This movie was fiction, that means not true.  In fact, it was more in the realm of fantasy, not only not true, but not possible.

The _Day after tomorrow_ whilst it is like most movies full of scientific errors still has less mistakes then the c**p the denialists spew forth.

The problems that global warming causes won't be as sudden as they were in the movie but they probably will end up happening.

Though it is very unlikely that there were any previous technological civilisations at our level that we don't know about.

Oooh, maybe.  We're still finding loads of things out, who's to say we won't find some hugely advanced, but very dead ancient civilization?  Might not even be human-made, either.  Like...technologically advanced dinosaurs, haha.  The world is very old...lots of opportunity for things to rise to being and then fall without ever being detected by us.
