  1. I would like to see the New York Yankees go a minimum of two years without buying or trading any players.  No matter how good or bad they do.

It's so annoying because they buy all of their good players.  They bought Jonny Diamond about a year and half ago.  They have way too much money just to mess around with.

Personally, I used to be a Yankees fan but I switched due to a few reasons.  No. 1- They buy all of their good players.  No. 2- At least two of the players were acused of steroids and HGH.  So, I switched to the Phillies instead.

P.S.  It's rediculus how much money the Yankees make.

  2. Dumb question: The Yankees didn't buy their team and haven't "bought" teams in the past.

Plenty of current Yankees came through the system. Jeter, Posada, Rivera, Cabrera, Chamberlain, Pettitte, Hughes (when he returns), and Cano. Every team supplements its team with free agents or through trades. So if that's the case, other teams have "bought" their teams, too. (Take a look at the 2004 Red Sox. Plenty of imports on that team.)

To Timothy G.: What, the Yankees aren't supposed to make money? They're a GREAT franchise with a large following and an image known all over the world. It's not our fault that the Kansas City Royals name doesn't ring bells like the Yankees does. And if you're no longer a Yankees fan....*yawn*. You're missing out. Sorry about that.

Note to all of you: It's not "buying." It's trading. If the other teams didn't want to do business with the Yankees, all they have to do is say "no." So spare me all your "buying" nonsense. The Yankees are giving up players, too. "Buying" players means they're paying teams cash for who they want. This is NOT the case.

Addition for Timothy G: I've stated my point clearly without lobbing any insults. I suggest you do the same should you want to debate with me. My points remain as stated. And they're correct, too. Buying is different from trading.

  3. That doesn't sound like a lot of fun to me.  Fans come to MLB games to see top talent and not a minor league exhibition game.

  4. You mean like Derek Jeter, Robinson Cano, Melky Cabrera?

--Sorry that I don't know the Yankees entire roster off hand, I was giving a few examples that I knew without looking it up. The thing is that every team in contention has "bought" players before, thats part of the game. Don't be mad at one team because they have money to spend as well as a pretty decent farm system.

And since when do trades count as "buying players" If thats the case then probably 70% of the league has been "bought"

  5. Yes...and the first answerer.....Well those guys are future Hall of Famers but they came from the 90s..and now live in the Present they are always buying thier team NOW-A-DAYS they didn't before

  6. Chris- Yes, he was referring to players like Derek Jeter, Robinson Cano and Melky Cabrera.

...Not Ivan Rodriguez (bought in 08), Jose Molina (bought in 07), Alex Rodriguez (bought for 04), Jason Giambi (bought for 02), Wilson Betemit (bought in 07), Richie Sexson (bought in 08), Johnny Damon (bought for 06), Hideki Matsui (bought for 03), Xavier Nady (bought for 07), Bobby Abreu (bought in 06), Mike Mussina (bought for 01), Andy Pettite (bought for 07), and Damaso Marte (bought in 08)

...begs the question...who exactly are the New York Yankees?
