Just found out about pregnancy at 9 months?

This girl I graduated high school with just found out that she was pregnant - the day she went into labor!!! She was a heavier girl to begin with, and had experienced spontaneous bleeding throughout the last 9 months. She started having extreme pain in her back and went to the hospital. They took one look at her and knew she was going into labor. She now has a healthy two-week old girl, born 7lbs+.

My question is: How the h**l can you not know that you're 9 months pregnant? I can understand maybe not knowing the first two or three - but 9? Has anyone else ever heard of this or experienced it?

  1. bc she was already soo heavy to begin with and also may have had irregular periods all of her life

  2. I actually used to work with someone who didn't know they were pregnant until they went to the hospital in extreme pain and delivered a baby girl... She told me that she thought she had a tumor growing her stomach and since she had moved here mexico and wasn't really educated she didn't understand how babies were made... I still find it kinda hard to believe...

  3. ive heard of it but from my experience (4 pregnancies now) i cant see how as even now at 24 weeks i can see my belly move when she kicks. maybe some women just try to ignore it and make themselves think its not happening. I just dont know

  4. My mom works at a hospital and has actually seen this happen. There was a lady, also heavier, and she didn't know she was pregnant either! They were examining her in the ER and could see the babies head! I've also seen TV specials where women didn't know they were pregnant, but not all of them were heavier. At first, I thought it might have to do with being significantly overweight and not being able to feel the babies movement, etc. I am not sure how they didn't know they were pregnant, I knew I was right away! (before I even missed a period) Everybody is different I guess..

  5. without education they expect a stork

  6. It's called DENIAL.

I do not believe any of these women who don't know they are pregnant - that is such c**p!  Unless they are COMPLETE IDIOTS!

  7. I have heard of it.  In fact, had a "friend" of the family that had that happen t her. She was a big girl, too.  I suppose it's possible, but very rare, I am sure.

  8. My friends mum had a baby at 17, and was scared to tell anyone.

She ended up going into labor on the sofa, and nobody had a clue.

Maybe she knew, and didnt tell anyone?

But then again some people just think they are getting fat, or are just cluless.

  9. This can acutally happen! A friend of mine had the same thing happen. She had VERY irregular period and acutally still had her period 2 or 3 times during her period. She always had a chubbier mid-section and she was in college so she chaulked her weight gain up to that (she only gained about 10 or so lbs) She was on vacation with her boyfriend when she had TERRIBLE stomach cramps. They thought maybe it was her appendix and rushed her to the hospital. 5 hours later she had a baby! It was all really insane and if it didnt all happen in front of my eyes I would never believe it. Her daughter is ok luckily (she did drink in college) but it is possible! RARE but possible

  10. The same thing happened to my niece!  (She was 22). She was heavier, and went to the hospital with back pains and was in labor too!!! I seriously think she was in denial, or just didn't want to tell anyone because we saw her a week and a 1/2 before she went into labor, and I said, "she looks like she's nine months pregnant!"  Boy did I call it!  She swears she didn't know and she had her peroid the whole time, but I could tell just by looking at her!  The whole situation was completely ridiculous! I really don't believe her. I can see it happening with a 12 year old who doesn't know any better, but an 18 year old, or a 22 year old?! I started having symptoms at 4 weeks!  She's made comments like, "oh, now I guess I won't get random heartburn anymore, or I won't crave.... anymore" Are you kidding me? Maybe it does happen, but I don't think it happens to people who are smart!

  11. yea i have it was on trauma life in the e.r. an the lady who had to be over 300lbs was on the depo shot an never got a period an bam she had a baby(came in complaining of lower abdominal pains and back pains) its crazy stuff, and i would wonder bout the baby moving but big ppl can confuse that with gas i guess, i would have wondered (if it were me)why my b***s friggin hurt or why they aint the same color or why they are leaking lol

  12. no symptoms I guess.

  13. i've heard of it happening...I know in one instance the dr kept telling this woman she was def not pregnant till she was nearly 7mos....she also had her preiod each month.

AND>.....for all the women who've had children and don't understand how someone could not know.....I find that strange considering we all know that everyone experiences pregnancy totally differently.  I mean that's how most women answer questions....it always starts...each women experiences different symptoms etc..so, of course, how is it not possible??

  14. IHere is Connor’s birth story - He was born at 30 weeks, weighing just about 3lb, and I didn't have a clue. I had had regular periods all the way through, and put on no weight - I went into hospital wearing size 10 jeans.

It was our anniversary, and we'd been out for a meal. I had really bad stomach pains (nothing like the pains I had in labour with my daughter, I can safely say that now), but put them down to over eating at the restaurant.

I went to bed, but at 5 the following morning got up covered in blood - I was absolutely terrified, and had no clue why I was bleeding, as I'd just finished a period something like 3 days before. Got husband up, and made him call an ambulance for me.

Once we arrived at hospital, I had a nurse come with an ultrasound machine, and then a doctor doing an internal - both of these people found nothing at all, and the doctor said 'she's miscarrying, just leave her to it'. It was only when a midwife was called that Connor's heartbeat was found - he was facing the wrong way (face down I think), which is why I hadn't felt him moving and why they couldn't find him straight away on a scan.

I arrived at the hospital at around 6am, I was told at 7.45 that I was going to deliver a dead baby, I was told at 8.10 that my baby wasn't dead, and he arrived at 8.39am. I had approximately 20 minutes to get used to the idea of being a mum! He was very poorly, and we were told to prepare for the worst - I have never known pain like that, to be told that the child you have known of for less than an hour will die. However, Connor fought for every breath, and was home with us after just 3 weeks in scbu - he is gorgeous, and I can't imagine life without him.

  15. I so don't get how a woman not know she has a child in her! Our old neighbor was in High School when she gave birth to her baby boy. She said she didn't know, her period came every month like usual. People aren't going to notice since she is a heavy girl, and most thought she just gained a few pounds. I don't believe her when she tells us that she had no clue. I've been pregnant twice and I've always felt that I was pregnant and knew I had a child in me before it was even confirmed. First pregnancy I didn't experience any morning sickness and it was rather easy, sometimes I didn't feel pregnant at all but I knew I was. Second time around was harder since I was sick all the time, but I've always felt my babies moving around, kicking, even a slight movement you'll feel it and if you don't think you are, you would get tests done to be sure and not let it slip by like it's just another heart burn or stomach ache. That is just ridiculous. In my opinion our old neighbor was probably to scared to tell anyone since her parents are super strict and she probably wasn't sure who the father was which would make things worse I guess?

  16. I have heard of it on the discovery channel I think....It does happen, but I agree with you...How could someone not feel all that commotion going on it their bellies from about 4 months on....

  17. I saw a show on the discovery channel and the women was told she couldn't have children and didn't have a period for 8 years so she never thought that she could be preggo. She said that she got sick in first 2 months and thought she had a bad bug. The doctor said that depending on where the placenta is in the uterus depends on how much and how early you can feel the baby. She was also a large lady and thought she was experiencing bad gas when she felt the baby move. Beside cases like that I don't think it is that likely that you really don't have a clue. I think it is more denial than anything!
