I told the DR. and she said that i cant get contacts for astigmatism. So, will my blurriness and dizziness get better as i wear my contacts?

  1. If your astigmatism correction (the cyl power) is lower than a -1.00, then ask your doctor to write you a prescription for a "spherical equvilant" instead of toric lenses.  this would offer about the same vision but eliminate the dizziness.  good luck!

  2. That is probably just a misunderstanding. She probably said you can't get contacts for YOUR astigmatism, most likely because it is too mild and not worth bothering with by getting special lenses.

Surely your Dr. knows there are lots of brands made for astigmatism , but if your correction is too mild, it isn't needed.

But the contacts you DID get shouldn't be blurry...let them know tomorrow that something is wrong. Dizziness can happen for a little while, but they should be clear.

  3. your doctor is nuts. I have astigmatism and i wear contacts for astigmatism. They make acuvue for astigmatism thats one, however those made my eyes blurry now i have baush and laumb and they are great not blurriness no glare. So my advice is to get a better doctor that knows about contacts

  4. Yes you can...Acuvue Oasis(not the best with spelling) has contacts for people with astigmatism, so try those. They seem really good my friend has them and she says you can barely feel it. I'm planning to get contacts.

Another thing you can do is get used to it. Wear it for 10 minutes a day, then try 20 then 30 and as much as a can until u feel comfortable. I do that with glasses when i first get them. It helps tons.

  5. It is possible (or so I am told) to get contacts with astigmatism correction; they have a small dot which must be placed in the correct position so that they cylindrical correction will work properly.  Discuss your current prescription (or get a new one) with an optician.
