Just got a new liner put in and filled it up from hose. Thinking i just need to turn the filter on and add?

chlorine. Is this correct with the new water do i still need to backwash the filter?

  1. you need to add Metal free . usually there is metal and minerals in the water. if you don't do this the balance of your water  will be hard to correct,meaning ph and alkaline, chlorine level.

    bring a sample of your pool water to the local pool supply store so that they can test it for you.


  2. Back-flushing would still be a good idea, get out accumulated muck.  Other than that, you're good to go.

  3. You should invest in a pH test kit at your pool supply store, they help you determine how your water is chlorinated and what else you may need to do to it to keep the water safe for swimmers.

  4. Don't know how dirty your filter is, so you will have to judge that one. As far as chemicals go, probably, but it would be best to do your usual full testing and adjust ph, chlorine, etc to start out in the best shape possible.
