My mum's just got back from holiday, and she was transferring her camcorder clips and videos on to disc

it had saved on the disc but not verify, but everything has now gone from her camcorder! so she is now having a nightmare! of course there not much she can do herself but what i want to know, is because it saved onto disc, but she cant see it on there. it on there as it didnt verify is there a chance that if she take the disc into into a shop, would they be able to pull the data off?

  1. Hi

if she saw it saved on the disk and then it disappeared or the software confirmed it as saved to the disk then it's there . A person with computer technical experience could find the hidden data .

So yes she should not do anything to the disk ,just take it to the a PC shop that would have knowledge of recovering data .

If they say they can't do it ,put it into a computer , click on  Start , then Run and type cmd in the text box , when the command window appears type dir /d     or whatever the drive letter is for your DVD/CD drive the you will see any files on the disk

    hope this helps bye

  2. No I'm afraid not. With hard drives and memory sticks you can rewrite the root directory with CD/DVD you can't, so rescue software can't work.

I know its a bit late, but my advice is NEVER to rely on CD/DVD for any important files, a USB hard drive is a much better proposition.

  3. can you confirm what sort of disc you are on about?

well i cant see why it wouldnt be on there if you put it on there.

have you got the disc handy? if so put  it in the drive, click my computer then right click drive d, scroll down to properties,

now it should show a sort of pie chart with free space and used space, obviously if it has no used space then the disc is blank and has not written.

    hope this helps

  4. what kind of camera is it, my camera has a recover so that if that happens

  5. You still may be able to recover the data from the camera. I have pulled deleted video and pictures from several camera disks.
