Just got back from taking the asvab

So i just got back from the asvab test, my afqt score was a 97 will this give me leverage in choosing a job in the military or is the most i am going to get from this a pat on the back?

  1. You can only be offered the jobs that are available.  It doesn't matter if you cut a perfect test.  If the job's not available the day you see the classifier it can't be offered to you.


  2. with that score ou can almost waltz into any job (being offered at the moment) assuming you have a clean record and a solid school career and you have been a citizen for more than a hand full of years. I'm just assuming your individual area scores are high, certain jobs need certain scores on certain parts of the test. we could give you a better answer if you gave us the scores on each part.

  3. It will help with administrative jobs.

    Your overall asvab score is only to see if you can enlist or not.

    They only use 4 of the 9 sub test in the asvab, to calculate the overall asvab score.

    You need to know what your line scores are for those 9 sub test.

    They are what determines what jobs you qualify for.

    IE you can score a 97 on the asvab and not qualify for any electronic jobs at all.

    Just because, they don't use the 4 sub test the asvab score uses.
