  1. just relax I had to go through the same thing

a week or 2 and you will be back to normal

  2. worst couple of weeks of my life! i had to get an expander on the top, not bottom, so i can only imagine!

i talked funny for awhile, but it got better (:

but my friends would tell me, say sorry, say salad, super. hahaha, it was funny at first but got annoying.

i barely ate. the first two weeks (when it hurt the most) i ate drinkable yogurt, like the dannon fusions  (: (i also lost alot of weight, haha)

it puts alot of pressure when you crank it, so make sure you eat before, or else you'll skip a meal because you wont want to eat.

also, dont raise your hand in class! haha, it sounds overdramatic, but you get really sensitive to talking with a lisp, and the first couple weeks, your closer friends will laaugh at you because they think they are allowed to.

as for your tongue, it only gets better (after the first 2 weeks) so dont worry! just make sure you use your wax, ALOT of it, and it should improve!

good luck, and i hope you get it off soon!

  3. Well it depends. See how you do. My friend took 5 days until she spoke  English again.

  4. Hmmm... As long as they keep expanding your mouth then it's probably going to hurt. It's probably going to be about a month before you can eat anything without pain, that's assuming they only intend to expand things for around 3 weeks.

As for talking.  It will get easier after they stop torturing you.  I'd say inbetween 1-2 months, but your speach might not completely recover until after the expanders are gone.  You might end up with new ways to say words too.  Like, vowels and conconants might change.

  5. aww! i remember when i had an expander!! it suked!!!!! anyway, you need to eat hard foods. yes, i know how horribly painful it is to do so, but if you eat hard foods & just try to grit & bear it, the pain of eating goes away faster. about the talking, talk really slow and say:

    sitting in solumn silence

    on a dull dark dock

awaiting the sensation of a short sharp shock

from a cheap and chirpy chopper

    on a big black block.

i promise if you say it at least 5 times per day it will make you talk better much quicker!

  6. You'll get used to it eventually.  It's tough having them top and bottom.  Have you gotten wax?  Try putting it over the metal wires to protect your tongue.  You'll have to learn how to rearrange how your tongue moves when you talk because of it, but it'll make sense soon enough for your mouth.  Wax was the best thing.  Also, there is this stuff you can rub on your gums and tongue that numb it and help to take the pain away, get some of that stuff, it's amazing.

  7. ok so call or make an appointment with your orthodontist and see how long and have them check out the expanders.

  8. well when i first got expanders, it took almost a week for things to be normal again. call your orthodontist or have your mom call and ask them if its normal for your tounge//mouth. hope this helps

  9. omg i know how u feel i got one once on my mouth too but only the top! i know it sux!

it was hard to talk? hard to eat? yeah. well all you can really do is try to work around it, practice saying words when your alone, and eventually it wont even seem like you have it anymore!! :) i hope i helped
