  1. use 50:1 and use good oil or you can ruin your motor. also if you are not sure what 50:1 is go to a boat store and get a mixing bottle.

  2. use 50:1 and use good oil! do not listen to people who say to mix extra rich it WILL damage the engine most of those outboards have L backed or keystone piston rings. if you mix too much oil, after a while it builds up behind the rings forceing them outward and breaking them. carbon is also the hardest material known to man(thats what diamonds are made of) excessive carbon can and will score pistons/cyl walls this happens to more engines than people realize!!

besides spark plugs are not cheap and you will foul many plugs. not to mention the ideling problems you will create as well as environmental concerns

  3. Can you give us the year.

I know there were years out there they were mixing 100:1.

But off the top of my head I would guess 50:1

  4. Most makers reccomend 50:1 but me I like 40:1 to be safe.Either one is OK. We have had a 1969 Mercury 50 H.P since new and run 40:1 in it from the beginning with no problems ever. This motor has run somewhere in the ballpark of 100 hrs. a year every year and never been rebuilt and does not seem to have lost any power. Now I know some folks will not like me saying that 40:1 is OK but my experience says it is just fine but 50:1 is great too.Good luck and if you ever want to give it to someone else I will be glad to take it off your hands.LOL.

  5. 50 to 1 is the mix you should use

  6. Heed GMC's advice. 50 to 1 means one litre/gallon of twostroke oil to every 50 litres/gallons of gasoline , or part thereof. Also , check the impeller or at least make sure it's pumping a good stream of water if it hasn't been used for a while.
