  1. lol.

that happened when i took my cast off i could not kick.

    lol kept falling.

but what u need to do is eat hard stuff.

    not suger.

    ok?

and just keep practicing on hold your teeth or lips together.

  2. I played flute in  the high school band. Just place the instrument so that the air is not going through your teeth and this is done through practice. Your not the first person to have braces and play flute so it can be done.

Watch the greats--Herbie Hancock, Terry Kirkman of the Association who is a master flutist and if you go to Utube you can see him play flute during the "Windy" song.

  3. maybe go and have a lesson and once you get the hang of it youll be fine

  4. just because you got your braces off doesnt mean you should be able to blow into the flute...youre probably just not used to not having braces so its distracting you

  5. Practice practice practice! I know a few people who hade the same problem and they just practiced until they could adjust the way they placed. Sure it's gonna be hard because you've been playing it for so long in a certain way...but it's basically like your gonna have to relearn how to play. The best of luck! I'm a fellow musician...so I know how hard it is lol.

  6. Practice and see if you improvee.

  7. Once, at band camp, I played a flute with my .....

  8. omg now im scared that this is gonna happen to me! Im a flute player and ive been playing for three almost four years and i have braces but I havent gotten them off yet

Im pretty sure that this will go away just keep trying. I can just imagine the feeling...

But, i have heard that in the end it actually improves your playing to go through this. and to cover your teeth with your lips while you play and that you'll get used to it. Good luck i feel so sorry for you, and am now worried for myself!!! lol.

  9. Just keep practicng.  I know exactly how you feel.  I had my braces on for four years while I played trumpet and I made first trumpet for Jazz Band.  Then, during break when I was supposed to be practicing all of my screaming-high notes for jazz, I got my braces off and could barely play the normal notes well.  I freaked out and told my band director that I would step down from first chair since I couldn't play well anymore.  He told me to keep on practicing and to not get discouraged so I did just that.  Even when it sounded like I wasn't making any progress, I just kept practicing consistently every day and I built up my range again.  I was able to play even higher and had better tone than I did before.  Don't expect it to get all better in a couple of days.  It is going to take a lot of practice, but you'll be able to do it!  Don't give up and don't be discouraged!  This happens to a lot of people.

  10. Hmm...maybe you're just having a bad tone day. There are days when I can barely get a sound out of my flute and days where I sound pretty good.

It may also have to do with your positioning. You may have adjusted to the way the braces were. It may take some time to readjust your position and relocate the "sweet spot" on your flute. Don't frustrate yourself too much right now, take a break or wait to play until tomorrow.

Good luck and congrats on getting your braces off!

  11. Maybe it's just your flute's problem..send it in for a check up. If not, just ask flute repairman about it, I'm sure he would have experience with flute players that cannot make a sound without their braces.

    Good luck :)

  12. if you could play with them, you could surely play without them :) just keep practicing, you will get the hang of it again. everything feels different after you get braces on or off, you'll just need to get used to the feeling again. good luck :)

  13. flute?  really?

  14. its probably because the position that your mouth had to be in in order to play with braces is different from the position your mouth has to be in to play without braces. so, your embrochure (sp?) is probably off. there isn't any quick fix, except keep trying to get notes out... slowly. maybe looking in the mirror while you try to get notes out will help, b/c you can see your embrouchure and the position of your lips. good luck!

  15. i played the flute, and a bunch of my friends had the same problem. after they kept practicing, they had the best tones in the band. with a new shape for air from your lungs to go through your teeth, it will take a while to adjust. but once you get it and with the added help of your perfected teeth, you'll be even better than before. drink tea and keep practicing!

  16. all i can say is press ur lips harder now that there is extra space from the flute and the teeth. and work at it dont get frusterated

  17. just keep trying you will get used to not having your braces. =] i had the same probelm. once you get used to doing things without your braces you will be able to play =] hope this helped
