ok i have my rook and tragus pierced, and wouldnt dream of taking them out for at least a few months, but i just got my upper cartilage pierced (with a gun) today and i dont like the stud much and would rather change it for one of my own, what is the reason for not being able to do this? she told me to keep the one she pierced me with in for 12 weeks, but why exactly is this? and what harm will it do changing studs now?

  1. 1. You don't have sterile jewelry, nor do you have a way of sterilizing jewelry (unless you have an autoclave at home)

    2. Changing jewelry will damage the healing tissues, causing scar tissue.

I'll spare you the lecture about piercing guns and cartilage.

  2. It can get infected if you take it out, even if your hands and new stud are clean.

  3. NEVER get ANYTHING pierced with a gun. you can't properly clean them. they are the source of many infections. always go to a parlour to get piercings.it's more expensive.but worth it.

don't change it because 1:it could get iinfected. 2:you may not be able to get the new jewelry in because of swelling.

  4. beacuse it will get infected
