Just got the Nike+ and Ipod Nano set-up in the mail but I already have an Ipod Video...?

Question

The only reason I got the Nano was because the Nike+ system doesn't work with the Ipod video. It has to do with the nano being the flash based IPod and the video being a HDD based and constant shaking could ruin the HDD. At any rate I know when you hook in a new IPod it erases the data from the Ipod you connect. Is there a way around this? How is the Nike+ system supposed track my runs if it's constantly being erased.
