Just heard a Global Warming activist say, "in China 250 mil. people will be under water"..is this guy insane?

They were discussing the possibility that the entire Greenland ice shelf could melt and cause a 20ft rise in sea level.

Even if this highly improbable scenario were to occur, it would NOT happen in a few minutes...it would happen over a long period of time.

So what is this guy thinking when he says, "in China 250 million people will be under water"?

As if 250 million people near the coast won't move away from the rising water...

They will just stand there and be flooded and die over this period of time...

This is why I don't trust these "the sky is falling!" chicken little Global Warming activists...with their insane prophesies.

If you want an open and honest discussion, let's have it, but if you prefer to make ludicrous statements...then nobody is going to buy into it.

  1. If you don't believe in global warming, then please explain why there no more glaciers in glacier national park.

  2. Thirty years ago there was supposed to be global cooling. These kooks are just making things up based on faulty science.

  3. Good, maybe they'll send my job back.

  4. That is about on par for the activist. They also said we would become cannibals. And yet, none of their dire predictions have occured.

They DO NOT want an open and honest debate. That scares them as they have no scientific proof to back up their insane claims. I went to one of Al Gore's minions presentations. Their criteria for evaluating opposing viewpoints is:

    1. Where does the funding come from?

    2. Is the author a climatologist?

    3. Is the paper peer reviewed?

In all my scientific studies, I have never heard of such nonsense. My training says to look at the science and the data  to determine the validity of a research paper (I learned this back in high school). They are trying to drive teh discussion away from the science as they know they are doomed.

  5. Dr. Stephen Hawkings said it would be 450 degrees and raining sulfuric acid.

Ted Turner said we would all be cannibals.

These alarmist make all sorts of wild *** claims that will never come true, but the thought that people will turn into cannibals scares the ignorant and they then will turn over their freedoms for security.

  6. no it could be a possible fact.

  7. I watch a good video the other day with a lecture by John Christy, you can see it here:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WWpH0lmc...

One of the points in the video is that actual borehole temperature studies done in Greenland (Dahl-Jenson et al 1998) show that Greenland was a lot warmer than today  for a longer period of time during the MWP and the Greenland ice sheet did not melt completely.

Studies also show that Greenland was a lot warmer continuously from  6000 b.c. to 2000 BC (same study as above) than today and again the icesheet did not melt completely.

Antarctica is so cold that even if temperatures rose 10 degrees the ice sheet will not melt.

Unfortunately, the alarmists are not interested in facts.  They believe that they are intellectually superior to us, and they have to scare us with the "boogy man",  just like many parents do with little kids, in order to change our behavior into what they think is right for the world.

  8. Some people are just hooked on gloom p**n.  The worse a prediction is, the more they want to believe it.  I think it makes them feel intellectually superior to us ordinary folk who don't have these apocolypitc visions of the future.

  9. You need to consider some of the following:

-Although you may not see Global Warming as a force at work, which it may or may not be, you still need to realize that the world will take it's course. Eventually everything will melt, just like it has repeated again and again on earth. The Ice ages are caused by the heating of the Earth. As the currents change, so does the weather. So when it gets hot, it will get cold, pretty much a slow equilibrium of the earth.

-Ok this guy is just exsagerating, if he was insane he would have said.....oohhhhh flying blakets in the subregions of purple moo chickens....

  10. As if 250 million people near the coast won't move away from the rising water...

Where would they go?  Do you know the expense and logistics involved in moving whole towns away from the danger zones?  There are many areas already putting together contingency plans for this very scenario.

Is the sky falling?  It did fall, only we haven't felt the full brunt of the effects yet, and won't for decades.

Read "Notes from a Catastrophe" by Elizabeth Kolbert.  She'll put a face on it for you.

While you're at it, read up on what happens when (not if, because it's already happening) permafrost melts.  You think Chicken Little is working overtime now?  He's going to have a lot of company in just a few very short years if we don't act decisively NOW.

  11. The worst part is no one called him on it.  Makes about as much sense as randomly stating "George Bush doesn't like ______ people."  Must be true.  The tv told me so.
