Can anyone tell me how rough it is going to be for my 14 year old son to have his tonsils removed? He will be 15 in October.. I have heard as you get older, the rougher the recovery.. He is also autistic, though luckily he is verbal....He is also going back into has have his adenoids removed as they have also grown back... ENT says this tends to happen in children who have allergies.

  1. adenoids grow back!?!?!?!? Did they not get the root bud when they took them out the first time? That will of course hurt and suck for him! Just keep him comfy and don't rush the recovery if he needs to rest for 2 weeks, let him.

I don't know how you are going to get him to take his medicine though.

  2. I had mine removed when I was 13.  It wasn't completely horrible.  I was back at school in a week.  I ate a lot of popsicles and ice cream the first few days, but was quickly back onto solid food.  Good luck to you both!
