  1. i think its a good idea to help out someone. but if a cop sees you he will pull you over and say you are picking up a hooker even if you arent and arrest you.

  2. I'd say somewhere between a bad idea and a fatal error in judgment!

Most of the hitchhikers are just looking for a ride.  But what happens when you run into the "bad" hitchhiker?

You could wind up stranded on the side of the road after they take your car ... not too bad.  They might get your money too, but hey ... at least you are still alive!

You could pick up a s*x offender ... now things are getting really bad ... no car, no money, maybe no clothes!  If they decide to leave no witnesses ... OOPS ... now you might wind up DEAD ... the worst day of your life ends when your heart stops beating.

It's a gamble when you pick up a hitchhiker, ask yourself this whenever you think about picking up someone you don't know ... do you feel lucky?  Are you ready to take the risks involved?

    EDIT:

Demos, there are plenty of ways to help without exposing yourself to danger.  Your example of the screaming woman is extreme ... I would call it in to the police (911).

On my way home from work (evening shift) I notice things during my drive that "don't look square".  I have turned in fights in the street, suspicious vehicles, suspicious persons, farm animals in the road (usually to the nearest farmer, not the police).

I don't pick up hitchhikers, I don't advocate the practice.  I also do not ignore screaming women.  If I don't feel comfortable investigating the screams myself ... I call the cops!  Even though everybody dies eventually, I'd like to put the process of dying off for as long as possible.

  3. I have picked up many hitchhikers. Nothing bad ever happened to me, although many of them smelled bad. Sometimes they ask for money. Several of the hitchhikers I've picked up have been black women, who sometimes sing gospel. They're my favorites.

  4. Very bad.  you have no idea who they are or the safety

  5. well it really depends, the rule of thumb is that if the person could overpower you that wants a ride, you probably shouldn't pick them up.  There are a lot of sick people in the world and it really isn't worth the risk.

  6. I don't think it is avery good idea myself cuz u never know what they have or what kind of person they r, they could look really nice and Innocent but could be deadly. I know when u drive by u feel guilty and really want 2 help but y take the chance?

  7. A very bad idea. If you have a cell phone and you fear the person really needs help, just call the police and report the person's whereabouts.

You should not let a stranger into your car, I don't care how "nice" they look.

There is a book called "The Gift of Fear," and it's an eye-opener about how women really need to think about personal safety. You won't be so trusting after you read the book, but in today's society, it really can mean the difference between your safety and inviting trouble into your world.

  8. When was the last time you invited death into your car?

  9. Many hitch hikers are just looking for a ride as far as they can get. Some however might hide weapons in their clothing, bags, etc. and could try to rob, or carjack you. Or worse... I personally wouldn't pick one up, mostly because it's illegal. I don't know if picking them up is illegal, but hitch hiking itself is.

  10. With most of these answers, now you know why dozens of neighbors ignored a screaming victim being killed.  Better to not take any chances.  Life is deadly, you know.  You might die from it.  Actually, it's pretty much guaranteed.  From the moment of your conception, you have been condemned to die.

There's always a chance that a hitchhiker might be a nut case waiting to kill you.  There's always a chance that the guy passing you on the sidewalk is a psychotic that suddenly snaps when he passes you and stabs you right there on the street.

  11. If they're teenagers, I'd definitely do it if I drove. I don't think it's all that bad of an idea.

  12. go watch the movie called "the hitcher". that should help you decide.
