Question:

Just how much of a difference will a repaired VTS (Variable Trim System) make in a wave runner?

I recently purchased a 2000XP Sea-Doo wave runner. After dropping a new engine (130H.P.) in it, I didn't get a chance to repair the VTS linkage last summer. My questions are: 1) Is it worth fixing? 2) Just how much will it affect the handling characteristics of the waver runner?

  1. I have a 96 sea doo xp and I have replaced my VTS system ...

It makes all the difference in the world. replace it! Also have you checked to see if it is the little motor or worm gear in the vts box is bad? I had to rebuild my motor vs 125 bucks for a new one and the worm gear is only a couple of bucks the whole unit is apx 250.00.....

Part of  my problem was that the dealer kept putting in a 7 amp fuse for the vts system I went and bought the manual for the unit and found it took a 15 amp fuse ....I haven't had a prob since.....

hope  this helps ..... good luck....

  2. I have a 2000 also and I use the trim all the time. It depends on how many you have onboard and the wave conditions. Its nice to be able to raise or lower the bow when you need it.

It makes a lot of difference. When you are running into chop getting soaked because you can't lift the  bow!
