I have been doing anything and everything to keep my utility usage low. Recently I have set up my home to function very nicely with out the use of outside utilities. Not just to be green but because I feel that utility black outs may be very common place in the near future.

  1. I refuse to live "green!"

I'll throw an old fashioned redneck tire burning bonfire long before I bow down to global warming nut job movement. After all green is the new red.

I own 2 SUVs, eat meat, refuse to recycle, and I am stockpiling incandescent light bulbs.

    Moo Ha ha!!!!!!!!!!!

Would you like a baby seal sandwich??!

  2. I finally got my mom to use phosphorous light balbs in some of the lamps.  I live in a small apartment so reduced energy use.  I work at meijer and try to reduce the number of bags used as well as sneek in a little line of trying to reduce the land fill.  I take the bus instead of drive.  I walk if my destination takes no more that 30 minutes to walk there.  Try to incourage "THINK GREEN."  I do not eat a lot of fast food which contributes a lot of greenhouse gases and so much more.

  3. jimbotron, you have PROBLEMS! Living green is not a nut job movement! We are actually people who refuse to live in a world where people don't care about the environment and who are too stupid to notice what we are doing to our planet. Did you know that when we pollute our atmosphere, we open holes in  our planets ozone layer, which can kill people and cause skin CANCER?! Did you know that the amount of trees in our rainforests is being depleated by over a square foot a second? Did you know that hundreds of species of animals animals are going to be extinct within the next 100 years because of our failure to care for their environments? Did you know that the polar bear will be extinct within the next ten years, because by then all of the ice in the polar ice caps will be melted by our exhaust and cars? Did you know that if we keep using up our fossil fuels at this rate, we will use all of them up and run out of energy very very SOON! (fossil fuels take hundreds of millions of years to be created, so don't think that they will be retrievable anytime soon after they run out) And by the way stupid, that means there will be no more gas for your stupid gas-hogging cars to run on, and you will not be able to go anywhere. OPEN YOUR EYES!

  4. My fiance opt to live in a small apartment since we don't have a need for a lot of space so we save on all our utilities as well as rent. I own a hybrid. I'm buying a bike since we only live a couple miles from work and once it warms up I want to leave the car parked. We buy organic and local. We buy our milk raw from a small diary about 30 miles away. We cook which cuts down on the plastic etc that we would use if we ate fast food. We have house plants to improve air quality. We have switched to natural cleaning products. I bought a safety razor and fiance bought a straight razor so no more plastic in that regard for us. We are even making our own shaving cream and soap. We keep the heat low and AC high. We take short showers. We are going to plant seeds this spring.

  5. I do wish I was more green, and I do try some what, but wouldnt mind hearing what you are doing too

I recycle, I know that dosnt help with the utilities, but still good for the environment

Every light in my house is compact flos.

I simi recently reinsulated the house, put new windows in, and put a more energy effecient heater in, I have noticed a major gas bill difference.

Little things like not trying to waste, if I go to the store and I can carry out what I bought then I make sure they dont bag it.

My problem is I just use too much power, even with the compact flos there is still the fridge, a few computers, a tv, sterio, washer/dryer, and misc other appliances running all the time.  Im sure like everyone else would never complain about driving a more fuel effecient vehicle too.
