Just installed Ram ... Help?

Question

I just installed Ram on my laptop, before i had 256, now i got 1gb and the computer reads 488(on crucial.com it says i got a 512MB. The stick itself id a 1GB, i checked it alteeast 5 times, my laptop can only take 1gb?? Any Help??

If the maximum your computer take is 1 GB or RAM, 1 GB stick on the RAM will not work. You would probably need two 512MB and it would solve the problem.

Try it this way take the old one out and just use the new one(1GIG)

If Maximum capacity in your laptop motherboard is 1 gig,you add extra and it does not show it in "my computer" properties,its ok ,it does not matter what they type on face of your Ram ,it could be the factory made a mistake,and your new ram stick is not 1GIG,send it back to them or test it in other laptop if possible..
