Just installed one apline type r sub just doesnt sound right. HELP??

i installed my apline 12" type r into a 1.25 q logic box ported. hooked up to a apline 1500 watt max and 500 rms amp. it sound okay on the inside of the car but outside of the car you barely hear it and it just doesnt sound right. is it the box? is it the amp settings? im not sure but something is missing

  1. Its not the things that you suspect.  It is because your car is built to reduce road noise and vibrations. When you put a box in a sedan, you will hear the most bass when you stand in front of the car or off to the side however if you are behind the car, it will sound very weak.  Putting sound deadener such as Dynamat will help a little bit.


  2. i agree with the first post, and to add to his answer,

    placement of the box will have a huge effect on this.

    to start off, make the subwoofer face the rear of the car as well as the port.

    and remember that you are using just one sub at 500 rms. that will not be too loud.

    by the way, the tuning frequency used on that box will also have a huge effect on the loudness.
