Just need a bit of poetry help/tips...?

So, firstly, I'm 14, and have been writing poetry for around 10 months? Anyways, so in this past Sunday's paper (in the funnies section) there is an advertisement for a poetry contest. Is it legitimate? It offers $100,000 prize money, but I don't even really care about that, I just don't want them stealing my work or something.

Secondly, what's something good I should write about? I have like 35 poems written already, but they are all (for the most part) too long, because it needs to be 24 lines or less. So got any good ideas...?

you should enter, but maybe in the title, include your name, or in the background, so they can't take it. you should write about whatever you want, or pick your favorite poem out of the ones you already wrote.  or, you can take parts of each poem and combine them until you have 24 lines. that poem that you wrote is really good, go for it!
