Just noticed a batch of unused cd-r's have a battery kind of smell from them. is it safe using them still? ?

why and where is that smell coming from? I just used one to save a file on it and it seems to be working fine. however I'm still concerened. please help!

  1. If they're from a spindle they often smell like that. It's just from the manufacturing process. They should be fine to use.

    Throwing them away would be a terrible idea,and a waste of perfectly good CD's.

    I honestly wouldn't be concerned if batter acid leaked directly onto it,so as long as it didn't hit each one.Smell of batteries isn't abnormal,use them :)
