  1. There are a lot of things you should consider beofre choosing a car....

How much do you have to spend on the car? and how much do you have to spend at the pump!

A Mustang is probably your best bet.... I guess....Or a Chrysler Sebring....It looks good when fixed up...Check out Eve's Tamourine Video...There's a nice one there... Plus you'd get the fixed pirce for gas for a year....Not too bad...

    Why A Convertible though??

  2. I would say that the Miata is not a bad teen car, however it can get on the expensive side... Maybe the sebring would be better for a first car, but anytime after that I would get the miata ( much more reliable, sporty, and better looking)

  3. I'd go with a car-based convertible over a Jeep for a teen - They'll get much better gas mileage and there's less chance of a roll-over accident.

Something like a Miata.  Miatas aren't overly fast (good if you are young or are insuring someone young or inexperienced) but they handle really well and retain their value well.  Another good small convertible is a Honda Del Sol - they're front-wheel drive (as opposed to the Miata's RWD) so they are a little better in the snow if that's an issue in your area but they still handle really well and are reliable too.

A used Chrysler Sebring convertible may also be a decent choice - they're pretty cheap used, they're front-wheel-drive too, and they're larger in case of an accident if the small size of a Miata or Del Sol scares you at all.

  4. Dont buy a Mustang or Chrysler....they are poorly built and get terrible gas mileage.  The mazda miata is by far the best bet for a convertable car.  Also the toyota MR-2 and honda del sol are T-top cars which are very similar to convertable but much more safe because they offer roll over protection.

  5. Coming from over a decade in the car business here!

As a teenager you should weigh several things before you jump in and buy a vehicle like a Jeep.

They are cool, no doubt, and having the convertible aspect is fun. They are also terrible on gas, very unstable at speed (on the highway for instance), and very expensive to insure/maintain.

You should take some steps to determine if this is really what you want, and the answers definately depend on your particular situation. If you are on a very strict budget income-wise (as I was at your age), you have got to weigh the difficulty of driving a vehicle like this in the age of 4.00$/gallon gasoline and HIGH insurance rates for teenagers (especially on convertibles). If you have a virtually unlimited budget and money is no object in your family, well, you can decide how smart you want to be with that money (personally, I'd buy a Ferarri if that was the case, ha).
