  1. You don't. It's not a legal requirement.

However it may be a good idea to keep it on until you have complete confidence. Other road users will make allowances for any mistakes you make.

  2. Yeah as everyone else has said you don't need to. My g/f passed a year last May and had some P plates on for about 10 months -she said she didn't want to take them off because everyone was really nice to her when she had them on!

  3. This is worrying. You say you've just passed your test, and yet you don't know motoring law. Have you READ the Highway Code?

  4. You do not have to show this sign

  5. Within mainland Britain the green "P" plates are entirely voluntary.  They didn't exist at all until a few years ago.

Opinion is somewhat divided as to whether to use them or not.  Some believe they are an effective warning to other people that you are a new driver and to make allowances for that.  Others believe that good drivers will be courteous to all road users anyway, and that the "P" plate can act as encouragement to the worst types of driver to take liberties ("Oh a new driver, I'll get out in front first, don't want to get stuck behind him!").

Personally, I fall into the latter category of belief,  having grown up long before "P" plates existed anyway.

  6. you havent got to

if you dont want it then dont have it, its just to warn other drivers incase they drive right up your ar$e I never had a P sign when I passed,

    so its your choice

  7. Assuming you are in England, Scotland or Wales, it's not needed.  At all.
