Just put in a new transmission now my mini van wont move

Question

I have a 1994 AWD automatic grand caravan and I just put in a new transmission now it will not move... (we filled the transmission with new fluid) this is a rebuilt transmission from a shop

did you also fill the torque converter? If not, keep running it and checking it and fill as needed. The transmission will fill it, it just takes awhile.

Sounds like it needs more fluid.It take about twice as much the first time you fill a new or rebuilt trans,because the torque converter is empty.

How much fluid did you put in? As I remember it takes around 12 quarts to fill a Chrysler A604 transmission with the converter drained.

Hi,

Sounds like there is either something wrong with it or an external transmission component has failed or hasn't been refitted correctly.

My guess is automatic transmissions may need a certain procedure to get them working.

Give the transmission supplier a call for support.
