  1. Awesome bud......

    Take them back there c**p...........

Not your fault..as they say good for growing plants....there not really.

You will find them really dim.

Slip them back in the paper tubes and exchange them for the hagen LIfe glo 2 made by the same company.

Blamo!!!  thats bright...a little green but not bad at all.

6700k spectrum bulb thats is bang on perfect for growing plants....

For any planted tank I have thats still using T8's this is the only tube i use.......

    Good luck!!!!

I still have the flora-glo from when i got duped!!! sitting in the closet all these years.

    Trust me...

take them back the difference in light ouptput will make you laugh....

  2. The power glo bulbs are much better to use. They provide 18000K and 40 Watts of energy. For 18" it is pretty inexpensive to buy bulbs. You can even try for plants going with a T5HO type fixture with bulbs that produce at least 16,000. Most plants will require around 15,000-16,000K of lighting. Some plants that like high light will require more than this.

  3. The new spectrum is a step in the right direction, but the light will likely be too weak to grow many plants.  Stick to the less needy varieties, and you should be fine.

EDIT: Any spectrum above 10,000K is SEVERELY lacking in red light, which plants absolutely require.  Between 5,500 and 6,700K is ideal as it provides a balance of red and blue light.  Using 10,000K+, intended for use in marine tanks (corals are in deeper water than plants and receice mostly blue light as a result), will lead to massive algae trouble in the future.
