  1. I would ring the hospital. With your first baby you never know and its just not worth running the risk of getting caught out if you go into labor really quickly.

    Good Luck

  2. Sounds like you have started labour - congratulations!  Now this can carry on for quite some time so don't be concerned if you stop and start.  If they are intense pains I would head to the hospital but if you still feel comfortable then you may have a while to go.

Phone your doctor or midwife and chat to them about when you should head to hospital...

    So exciting congrats again :)

  3. It sounds like you are definitely in pre-labor, but I wouldn't rush to the hospital yet. They say not to go until they are 5 minutes apart, but I know it's harder when you live further because what if they suddenly get closer together? Is there anyone that lives closer to the hospital that you can stay with until they get closer? You can for sure go to the hospital right now if you are worried, worst case scenario they send you home till they are closer together. But just so you know, and I am not trying to scare you but here is the truth. When you get actual contractions, they will hurt so bad that you will not be able to talk or walk, at all. It is the worst pain ever, but well worth it in the end, and get an epidural as soon as you can. But if I were you I would try to go to someones house closer to the hospital until you are ready to go in! Good Luck!!!

  4. Sounds like labor!!  Good luck and CONGRATS MOM!!

  5. I've had those before I got my period. They hurt terribly, it's PMS cramps. You do not need to go to the hospital, the best thing to use is Midol regular or Midol extra strength. Tylenol does not do the job very well for intense cramps in your belly. It will take 20-30 minutes to kick in. Also, use a hot water bottle. Like those red rubber ones, they truly do the trick for this. Also avoid eating anything salty because that will drain some water in your body that you need. Sweet things like chocolate is good for you when you have these cramps and hot soup or tea.

    Midol does wonders.

EDIT: I am so sorry, I wanted to edit this right away, I did not read your question properly and entirely forgot that the category was on pregnancy, sorry everyone for being so ignorant!

Let me rephrase that. You should see the hospital right away, don't wait because by the sounds of it like you are experiencing labor, like everyone else is saying here.

Good luck, and congratulations on your baby.

  6. considering your 40min away from the hospital and your DUE, I would at the very least call them and see what they recommend.  If that baby decides it's time to come out, 40min could be alot of time or it may not be enough time, you just never know!  Generally when the contractions are 5-7 min apart you should get to the hospital to be examined....well your not too far off that, but it could take awhile to get there.

  7. Sounds like this is it! Wait until they are closer together though as it's nicer to spend the time waiting at home rather thn the hospital.  But allow time for bad traffic-maybe wait until they are 6-7 minutes apart? And good luck!
