  1. I am an RN with the hours of 6P to 6A, so I went through exactly what you are going through now just a couple years ago. I started out trying to stay awake until really early morning (like 5 or 6) on my days off, but it didn't work for me. I usually go to sleep about 2 or 3 in the morning on my nights off. You could also try depriving yourself of sleep before your first night off in a set, so that you will be able to go to sleep at a more reasonable time on your first night off. Hope this helps!

  2. I have been doing this for the last 6 years. But I do it for two weeks and then work 7am to 7pm for two weeks. I am so used to working nights I usually go home and sleep until noon and then do whatever until I leave for work. If you can keep busy at work and don't have to sit around too long, you should adapt within a few weeks. It took me nearly a year before I adjusted to my schedule. I used to drink energy drinks....don't have to anymore.
