Just started taking prozac and having weird effects?

Question

just started taking prozac yesterday, for bulimia, and I just threw up about three times in three hours. However, I noticed that after the first time I threw up that I couldn't stop talking, and rambling and speaking rather quickly, pacing around the house, and I am still feeling that way right now. My back also hurts, but that could be from a new office job where I sit in a chair. I am feeling rather talkative still, and I was just wondering if its from the prozac (20 mg) just because I ahve only had two doses ( 2 days worth)

Honey I went through that for a week when I started on Prozac. It will wear off after that. If you still have those side effects after a week and a half or so you might want to consider having the doc switch you to a different med.

It is possible for Prozac to cause mania in some people. Typically people who have bipolar disorder are the ones that get it. I would let my psychiatrist know about it in case there is something he/she can do about it. It is possible you have bipolar disorder and are not yet aware of it.... which is why you seem to be getting the mania.

Just be careful that u don't start feeling depressed or extremely emotional when i first started Prozac i went from being manic to almost suicidal and then my emotions leveled off and i sort of "normalized" but i needed to be supervised for the first few weeks i was on it.... Ive been taking Prozac for almost a year now and everything is great... just those first three weeks were hard.

I feel sure it's the Prozac.  I used to take it many years ago.  I was never hungry and was wired.  I lived on coffee, cigarettes and Prozac.  If I didn't take it, my body would go into neutral.  I leveled off after about three weeks.  I don't think the Prozac would make your back hurt, unless you were so hyper that you did a lot of work that you don't remember doing ?  It does strange things the few days you are on it.
