scousers make jokes and try to chat me up (in a jokey, cheeky sort of a way). i don't always know how to react, can't think of wisecracks to reply back with cos i come from a small village and am not "streetwise" like them. they think i'm dead shy because i just giggle when guys flirt with me. i want to be part of the fun but just don't know how to react

  1. am a scouser and i say just be yourself.

  2. this time next week you will be well into it have fun good luck enjoy

  3. just say you cant understand them.............well i cant..

  4. Aww...you're sweet.  I agree with everybody who says just be yourself, you don't have to be like us.  I'm a Scouser too and I'm usually quickish but some days I can't think of quick come backs, so don't worry, just relax and you'll fit in soon.  Also just enjoy those flirting, unless they're being a real nuisance then of course just tell them you're not interested.

Just ignore those on here with the stereotypical jokes, they unfortunately don't have that quick wit, which is why they have to revert to 30 odd year old jokes coz they can't think of anything original.

  5. Just be yourself and people will accept you. Scousers suss you out pretty quickly and soon know you can't always keep up. it can take some doing but you will speed up in a couple of weeks. Above all don't try too hard because it comes over as false. I have lived in liverpool most of my life and still get into situations in which I just don't keep up. Some of my old collegues used to play a word association game. it would just open up in ordinary conversation, by the time I had thought of a word it had already been used or the game had moved on.   Have fun this city is a lot better and indeed safer than some I could mention.

  6. Most Scousers find the idea of working to be a joke.

You'll have to research their culture a little more, and learn to keep a tight hold of your handbag.

  7. Get to know them, go along with them, and soon you'll learn...

  8. Tell them that you fell sorry for them since they are not American

  9. you will soon 'fit in' because the people of Liverpool have very open hearts, just relax and don't try too hard and be yourself and people will accept you for who you are

  10. Just be yourself you will soon pick it up!!!!!!!

  11. excuse me can  just say i m a scouser a i dont realy appreciate snoty people skitting us an bein horrible so can ya not do that thanks. and why are you even looking at the liverpool page if you are just going to skit us!

  12. Just be yourself.  You don't have to be like them...just enjoy their company and they will enjoy yours.

  13. Tell them you were taking a sentimental journey.. to visit your alloys!

Then you got your car stolen, so you are now busy trying to earn enough to get out of there.

  14. As most others have said, just be yourself. You'll quickly find out that Liverpool people are very friendly, accommodating and will accept you for who you are.

Scouse humour is very quick and quirky (unlike Mustafa Leek's ▲ attempt at humour which is about 30 years out of date!) - in time some of it may just rub off!

Enjoy Liverpool, it's there to be enjoyed and it's a fantastic place!

  15. Just whip them out, that should do the trick but wait till i'm there.

  16. just say "day doo dough dont dee dough" a lot, theyll know what you mean

  17. just relax a bit, you will get used to it pretty quickly.

mustapha leek - sod off you cheeky bell end, you know nothing

  18. There is an expert Scouser you should get to know first.  Once you have managed him, the rest will follow.

Ken Dodd - Official Ambassador for Scouseland

Just allow your natural sense of humour to take off - don't hold back, join in the fun.

Last time I went to Liverpool they were on strike.

    (No, it's just a joke).
