i recently switched cpus from one room to another, as I was moving all cords from the router and modem were disconnected. I dont know much about networking so I plugged everything back into its right port. Now i can connect to the internet just fine through my cpu, but when i try to connect with my xbox 360 i get an error saying dns failed. I have tried resetting the modem and the router. I even tried switching over the ethernet from the port that the cpu was connected into and still dns failed. I never had a problem with xbox 360 and the internet. Please help. My router is linksys befsr41 ver. 2 and im on comcast cable . any help or point me in the right direction will be greatly appreciated. thanks.

  1. Firstly you do not mean cpu - you mean you have moved computers. CPU is central processing unit - or processor - which is INSIDE the computer which maks everything work.

Maybe you need to open up some ports on your router. If it was working before I wouldn't have thought so though. Can you connect with your 360 when the computer is off?

  2. you should get a free xbox 360 from this site instead of buying retail

  3. Set all your devices to get their addresses via DHCP rather than manually assigning addresses to each. This should solve your problem.

  4. make sure all your devices are set to get their addresses via DHCP rather than manually assigning addresses to each...
