Another kiddie poem from the vault 1992

Just you wait

I can stand up on my own

And almost reach the telephone

But Mommy says “leave that alone!”

Just wait until I’m taller

When I’m taller and can walk

When I’m smarter and can talk

You’ll have to watch me like a hawk

Just wait until I’m taller

When I’m taller I’ll have fun

I’ll make my Mummy really run

To keep up with her active son

Just wait until I’m taller

When Mom’s not there I’ll use the ‘phone

I’ll call someone with the funny beeping tone

A far away call to someone else’s home

Just wait until I’m taller

For now I’ll keep quiet on the ground

And burble as I crawl around

Sit up when the telephone makes a sound

Just wait until I’m taller

  1. That was very pretty, it engaged me :) Well done.

  2. Make sure that baby has a telephone with a flat rate fee!  This is a funny, scary poem.  It is excellent and I had to read it three times, I liked it so much.

  3. soooo nice! thanks, you made my day!

  4. Thanks for putting a smile on my face, that was delightful

  5. This is an adorable poem! My 4 year old is in a "when I am big I can..." phase and one of his biggest things right now is "when I am big I can use the phone!"

  6. You are able to write these wonderful poems with a baby?!

I stand in wonder.  When my twins were that age I was happy to get a bath every two weeks!

You brought a huge smile to my day!

  7. "Hi!"

That was a lovely poem. my oldest son is 8. but my other children are 4,3 & 1. My 4 & 3 year old (Christophor & Hope)have attempted to dial a few numbers and have succeded once. LOL  : )

  8. I remember once - at my gramma's - I was left alone with the telephone. I was standing on a stool - and knew - that I only had to dial - about 7 to 10 numbers - to be able to talk to someone - so I kept trying.  I remember I "counted" the numbers by my fingers. Heaven knows where I was dialing to.  I think my gramma stopped me before too much damage was done (at least I hope so). ♥

  9. This is adorable, love it, brings us all precious memories,

Now my grand kids hardly call, when learning a half doz. times

or more a day, wish they would have spread it out, HA!

A lovely heartfelt poem . Kudos.

  10. This is in the order of tall...good poems!  A nice read with meaning between the smiles.  My compliments.

  11. There are some minor glitches in the meters of the 4th and 5th stanzas. But I guess if you cannot yet walk or talk, that's forgivable. This is a delight!  I figure that he's seventeen now. Which means that he is the quintessence of restraint, wisdom and judgment.
