i feel that the invasion of iraq has lead to the instability across the globe and will only get worse ..... when the usa went againts nato and invaded iraq they brought an end to natos powers ..... europe is not as frienly as it seems to appear trying to force an united european army and one of the reasons clearly stated was to counter balance americas power ... russia have been waiting for this a long time taking back all the oil feilds and now its ovious they will control the suppy of oil into europe no army can fight without oil do u agree on that at least ... so i feel heres the out come of all this in the long term ... the more europe relys on russia the more control russia will gain america will be force to take a back seat in global politics because they will watch there allies slowly leave them apart from britain thats all that will happen .... if ur wondering what will cause the next world war well i think and its only an opinion that americas lets say pet project israel is a far more worring problem america created a nucular power in isreal and an over confident millitary and has it rite in arms lenght of russia and iran ... and the signals are there from last years problem with lebbonon that the usa may have created an animal that the can control .... if we are to avoid war in ou life time it has to be the americans that avoid it by a, negociating an allince with the russians b. slowly over time give less support to isreal and take there cnfidence levels down a notch and thirdly take a much stronger involvement in european politics ... hittler tried to control euope seems brussells are trying to do the same thing but with the pen not the sword ......... whats ur opinion and feel free to say anything

The instability in many parts of the world came about with the end of the Cold War and the death of the Soviet Union. Surrogacy was no longer an option for nations in choosing which side to join in that Cold War. The Balkans never recovered from the death of the Austro-Hungarian Empire at the end of World War One and was only kept from lighting the pile of tinder in the box by harsh, draconian rule as parts of communist Yugoslavia. What was unleashed was a tableau of ancient hatreds, instead of a world at peace.

NATO should have cased its flags on December 25, 1991 when the Hammer and Sickle flag of the old Soviet Union was lowered from the flag staff at the Kremlin. It had accomplished its mission. All it has shown since then is how much of a paper force it is, with the exception of its Naval arm. In the Kosovo campaign, over 90% of all air combat missions were flown by aircraft from the U.S., Great Britain and Canada. The non-English speaking member states of NATO were found to be woefully lacking.

Given the events since the end of the Cold War I would like to see ELMA replace NATO. That stands for the English Lands Military Alliance and would consist of Great Britain, Canada, the U.S. Australia and New Zealand. The Irish Republic could also be included if they ever got beyond the status of robust peace-keeping only.

Rant...rant..rant.

The USA has complete control over the UN and has proven that it will do what it wants irrespective of the UN anyway.

Russia has invaded Georgia but America is not sufficiently bothered by Russia to go to war over it.

America will not stir up Russia as the last thing it needs is for Russia to ally with Iran.

Russia does not have the economy or infrastructure for a protracted war with the US anyway.

Yes America being involved with Israel is a problem for the rest of the world, Israel is a festering sore in the middle east that occasionally gets the scab lifted off.

Given the way America has conducted its Iraq war if the Arab countries around Israel were to unify and rise up against Israel as one, America would be on the back foot and may not be so quick to respond.

What keeps Israel safe is the "illusion" of american backing and the fact that the Arab states cannot get it together .If that changed Israel would be in a huge mess.

we must act. the great european powers united are much stronger than the US could be. We must build armies for defence, negotiate peace and build anti missile systems in all our countries. We must bring china in to help. They have the worlds biggest army and could station it all across the middles east to control threats from iraq and iran, while the EU and America will continue to help in those countries aswell as Georgia to prevent Russia attack. We must Stockpile oil from russia and save it for when it is needed most. If they do become a threat. They must be placed under a blockade, noone leaves, or enters. They are cut off from the world. We are aiming for world peace. We want as little threat as possible. We must stop tis uprising and continue with the building of NATo sites in all surrounding countries. We cannot have another cold war, knowing this time they will launch the warheads. Military action must be taken. We will fight on the beahces, in the feilds, never give in.

You can support anti-Democracy with Russia attacking democratic Georgia and Iran threatening democratic Israel.  Americans will keep supporting democracy.  I have no problem with Western Europe leaving the alliance of the West.  I welcome it.  Eastern Europe has proven they care about the alliance and will fight for it.  I don't know how it will all end, but I'm not giving up my integrity.
