Just wanted to know if any one new wat spl ment on out board motors?

"special" --  evinrude made several of these motors -- it's a derated version without some of the bells & whistles.

the 88spl is a derated 90hp, the 48 is a derated 50hp., etc.  what the "regulars" have that these don't:  

VRO or OMS (automatic oiling), so SPL owners have to premix their oil & gas.

"slow" mode, sort of a "limp home" feature, where it disables half the cylinders in turn, in case the motor overheats.

probably one or two other things, I can't remember.

basically, no difference.
