  1. No problem. I experienced no discomfort and no pain.

  2. Its really annoying rather than actually painful.  I had my first 50 billion while pregnant.  I can assure you that it is not as bad as your probably thinking.

  3. It is a bit uncomfortable but it is something that every girl needs at least once a year if not more. For me it was more of embarassment but once you get past that you will be fine.

  4. It wasn't that bad, but it wasn't like eating ice cream.  ;)

You can ask your doctor to use the small speculum on you.  That is the least uncomfortable one.  The test goes like this:  You get up in the stirrups, which is probably the worst part for your first time.  You feel really exposed and awkward, but the test is over really fast, so just grin and bear it!  Then the doctor does a visual exam of your v***a to look for any irregularities.

Next the doctor will insert the speculum and open it up.  It's kind of uncomfortable, but I wouldn't describe it as painful.  Just annoying.  Next, the doctor looks inside your v****a and visually inspects the inside for irregularities.  Next, the cell tests begin.  The doctor uses what looks like a little wooden spatula to scrape the outside of your cervix.  That is not uncomfortable.

Finally, the actual PAP test.  The doctor uses this little thing that's like a tiny little bottle brush to gather some cells from the inside of your cervix.  This is the only part that's actually uncomfortable for me - it's not painful, but it feels like a really brief, really mild menstrual cramp.

Then it's over!  The doctor will remove the speculum.  Most doctors will do a digital exam of your ovaries at this time, which involves putting two fingers inside your v****a and pressing up and outward while she feels your ovary through your abdomen with the other hand.  That part always tickles for me!

Most doctors will do a breast exam as well, which can be kind of painful if you're near your period and your b*****s are tender, but it's over quickly.

That's it!  It takes maybe five minutes all together.  Easy!

  5. It really isn't too bad.  You will notice a little pressure, but that is over within seconds.  Just relax.

  6. abit   but its all over in a matter of minutes
