I was reading the Fearless series (haven't finished them yet) and I was wondering if it is possible to be born without a fear gene. I have only read the 1st and 2nd books.

  1. It's instinct. Like if you touch a hot pan and it hurts so you don't touch it again, because you're afraid of getting burned. Without that fear we'd probably be doing a bunch of stupid things.

I do know it's possible to be born without feeling pain. (I first heard about it off of the show House.) But fear? Maybe. I'm sure if a person was without pain they'd pretty much be without fear as well so I do believe it could happen, but if the person could still feel pain it'd come as a shocker to me.

  2. isn't fear an emotion? hummmm

  3. No. If there ever was the fear gene, the natural selection would take  care of it.

  4. Without knowing anything about the Fearless series, I believe it is possible to lack the ability to fear. A possible example that comes to mind is that of a serial killer. Do they have any real fear?
